A new independent report lays out the scale of, and solutions to, the global justice crisis.

Two-thirds of the world’s population lack meaningful access to justice. Report author Diana Good explores how in Africa, Justice Defenders goes right to the heart of the problem.

Through legal education and training, prisoners are now able to secure justice themselves. Offering a scalable, cost-effective, and sustainable approach to delivering justice.

The report includes interviews with former inmates, prison officers, judiciary, lawyers and academics. Alongside interviews with former inmates who served time on death row. Now graduates in law, they return to prisons to provide free legal advice for inmates.

Diana Good is a former Commissioner with the UK’s aid watchdog, the Independent Commission for Aid Impact, a specialist adviser to the International Development Committee in the UK Parliament. She was previously a partner of Linklaters LLP international law firm and a part-time judge sitting in the Crown Court.
