Pascal began studying law whilst on death row. He became our first student to receive a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from the University of London in September 2017 and is continuing to study for his Masters (LLM). His commitment and hard-work identified him as an ideal student.
He has served as the legal advisor on the Human Rights Committee at Luzira, which includes prisoners and prison staff with a responsibility for monitoring the human rights situation at the prison and reporting relevant issues to the administration. A role that also extends to providing basic legal advice and support to the most vulnerable in prison, who are unable to afford the services of a lawyer. He served as a Graduate Assistant to the APP's prison-based Law Degree Tutors as well as becoming Editor of the prison Law Journal.
Pascal was released after 20 years, in August 2019.
